Stop Running, Start Reigning!

To be perfectly honest, I am writing this post for my mother. She found some old notes the other day and this was at the bottom, also a date on one page, 2/5/96 and she said the Lord impressed on her that that date meant something to someone. If it is you, let us know.

It was written in a year she was attending some major revivals. One of the songs being sung was about taking back from the enemy what he had stolen. The notes include 1 Samuel 30, the raiding and burning of Ziklag and the capture of everyone and everything, though they killed no one. And the pursuit and recovery that followed.

You can read it for yourself but basically, they were wiped out and everything and everyone returned and all their spoils as well. While this is a story of an earthly king, David, I have to believe that Jesus is about to do the same, and people now are killing His people, believers, Christians, Messianic Jews and many whose hearts are prepared or being prepared for salvation, He knows who the enemy is and He has destroyed him. But sadly all will not believe.

The thief ( the devil ) comes but to steal, kill and destroy. I ( Jesus ) have come that you may have life and life more abundantly. John 10:10

It really comes down to good and evil. Defending yourself is one thing, evil is another. We know from the Psalms that there was a lot of praise lifted up. From the notes:

Focus on the promise, not the problem. Why praise? Praise is where God lives.

Yet you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel. Psalm 22:3 ( all New Living )

Praise is the only access to God’s presence.

Enter His gates with thanksgiving; go into His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him and praise His name. Psalm 100:4

Praise is a God given garment that drives away heaviness.

To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the LORD has planted for His own glory. Isaiah 61:3 English Standard uses garment of praise.

Praise brings deliverance.

But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors me. If you keep to my path, I will reveal to you the salvation of God. Psalm 50:23

Praise brings protection and preservation.

Don’t kill them, for my people soon forget such lessons; stagger them with your power, and bring them to their knees, O Lord our shield. Psalm 59:11

Yes, you have been with me from birth; from my mother’s womb you have cared for me. No wonder I am always praising you! My life is an example to many, because you have been my strength and protection. That is why I can never stop praising you; I declare your glory all day long. And now, in my old age, don’t set me aside. Don’t abandon me when my strength is failing. For my enemies are whispering against me. Psalm 71:6-10

Praise is the believer’s arsenal against the devil.

Let the praises of God be in their mouths, and a sharp sword in their hands— to execute vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples, to bind their kings with shackles and their leaders with iron chains, to execute the judgment written against them. This is the glorious privilege of His faithful ones. Praise the LORD! Psalm 149:6-9

Praise releases God to do battle for you!

After consulting the people, the king appointed singers to walk ahead of the army, singing to the LORD and praising Him for His holy splendor. This is what they sang:

“Give thanks to the LORD; His faithful love endures forever!”

At the very moment they began to sing and give praise, the LORD caused the armies of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir to start fighting among themselves. 2 Chronicles 20:21, 22

There are many kinds of praise or hallal, to laud or boast of in celebration. Hallelujah means praise to God, Yahweh. It is todah with extended hands, Psalm 63:4, 134;2 and 1 Timothy 2:8. And baruch, to bless, salute, kneel. Psalm 103, 119:93-95.

Total recovery and restoration.

For He ( Jesus ) must remain in heaven until the time for the final restoration of all things, as God promised long ago through His holy prophets. Acts 3:21

Encourage with praise.

Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts. And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 5:18-20

Come into agreement.

I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you. Matthew 18:19

Entering the enemy’s camp.

I will send my terror ahead of you and create panic among all the people whose lands you invade. I will make all your enemies turn and run.

Bind the strongman. Matthew 12:29…

I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Matthew 16:19 English Standard

Victory through giving, what He gave us, offer others.

But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:57

And a few other verses to study about restoration, pertaining to Israel and even relating to us. Exodus 22:1-9, Joel 2:23-27, the rains and seasons.

Isaiah 49:17, Soon your descendants will come back, and all who are trying to destroy you will go away. Isaiah 49:17

54:1-3, being no longer barren, 58:1-4, fasting, yet continuing to quarrel, 60:1-5, about rising and shining, one of my sayings. Israel is being told to shine and how people will return and the world will notice. These verses are a little more condensed but I encourage you to study praise, restoration, and reigning for yourself.

At the bottom of the page is the phrase, ” Stop running, start reigning. “

For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ. Romans 5:17, Other translations say, reign.

You are worthy to take the scroll and break its seals and open it. For you were slaughtered, and your blood has ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation. And you have caused them to become a Kingdom of priests for our God. And they will reign on the earth. Revelation 8-10

Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. For them the second death holds no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him a thousand years. Revelation 20:6
