New Revelation?

My Post (6)

I know what your thinking. what is she talking about? I see the puzzled look on your face, at least I can guess how you look. I don’t mind. Sometimes teaching can appear to be way out there. But so is God and yet as close as Jesus, and actually all three in your heart.

I have to tell you, our post has nothing to do with the book of Revelation, although it is revealed to John much the same as revelation was given to Samuel. According to the historian, Josephus, he was about twelve or he could have been close to the age of a bar mitzvah, approaching the Jewish rite of passage into manhood.

We read in 1 Samuel 3, that God spoke to Samuel, at first he though it was old Eli Calling him. The aged priest was nearly blind, and of course, we recall how Hannah had prayed for a child and God gave her Samuel. She kept her promise to give him back to the Lord, making him some little clothes and taking him to the temple. Hannah, meaning grace, used the grace God gave her to do this. And he became a prophet.

When Eli told him it was God calling him, it was in a time of spiritual darkness in Israel, and depending on the translation it says, visions or open visions were rare, or NKJV –

Now the boy Samuel ministered to the Lord before Eli. And the word of the Lord was rare in those days; there was no widespread revelation. 1 Samuel 3:1

Here is our word revelation, or divine truth. and the Amplified –

Now the boy Samuel was attending to the service of the LORD under the supervision of Eli. The word of the LORD was rare and precious in those days; visions that is, new revelations of divine truth were not widespread.

God spoke to people earlier, and now not so much. While Abraham also heard God, he had a vision of Christ, because the word ram is changed to lamb, but an example of an open vision would be Jacob, and the angelic dream, God was at the top and it gave instructions.

By the time Isaiah and Daniel come along and the closer to the birth of Jesus, and after there are more and even closer to His return. As a believer we are to discern the voice of the Spirit, it is something we learn as we grow in grace. We learn to discern. You can ask the Holy Spirit to help you read or study.

Let’s talk about the baptism of Jesus. When God spoke then, some heard nothing, some thought it was thunder, and others were witnesses to the dove and the voice of God saying He was pleased with His beloved Son. I think this is what will happen at the catching away of 1 Thessalonians 4:17, or the Rapture. Some won’t realize until believers are gone.

Jesus saw in the Spirit, Nathaniel, before He even approached him, He perceived thoughts, and intents of the heart, because He was not only all man but all God with a full measure of the Spirit, while most will not even come close we are able to follow after Him and walk in the Spirit, discerning His voice and not following a strangers.

Not everyone who says they hear God do, they have gone AWOL, ran down the street and been killed by police, persuaded some into cults or suicide. But believers will know the truth. Paul for example had a major experience on the road to Damascus and was a changed man. Like Jesus’ baptism those with him heard nothing but he heard Jesus asking why he persecuted Him. The Spirit must have started him thinking about killing Christians at the stoning of Stephen.

We know He went on to minister and write most of the New Testament. He taught about Jesus fulfilling the law and prophets, giving us grace and truth. He encouraged Jews to leave the ministry of death, the law that only Jesus could fulfill and embrace the ministry of the Spirit, many would try to return to Judaism, and he called the Galatians foolish. And it is true we could never accomplish for ourselves what Christ did. We are saved by grace, not works. Ephesians 2:8, there is plenty to do just sharing His gospel of peace. But explaining grace and truth as opposed to the law, was a new revelation,

Jesus, Himself mentions this, not giving the children’s bread, healing and deliverance, to the woman’s daughter that persists, She is not offended that he says to the dogs, and it could have been more gentle, like puppies. But she dropped her pretense, having called Him rabbi, and said even dogs get the crumbs, He healed the girl, He intend to take the gospel to all.

And then there is John, the last disciple, the one Jesus loved as he called himself, Jesus was able to give him the Revelation that foretells the future events at the end of the church age and into eternity and we are ever closer.

The Holy Spirit teaches you and guides you to truth in all ways. Sometimes, He speaks to you with a verse, or a prophetic word from someone, by hearing something even three times like Samuel, or in an open vision. Peter had a vision, when he did not want to go to Cornelius’ house. He was still thinking food laws but God gave him revelation, divine truth, He intended to save Gentiles and give them the Spirit.

It uses the word trance and I know that conjures up if you will pardon the pun a crystal ball or mediums to most but it is quite the opposite,, he had fallen asleep on the roof before dinner, it is more being still or quiet in the Spirit allowing His will to guide you. For the Spirit to show you things to come, is not the same as fortune telling, that is divination, not divine truth. You have a free will and can choose to love or not, to believe or not, to trust Jesus or not, to be led astray or not, t be misguided or lost or not.

Words spoken over us or given the Spirit are powerful, I got a word the other day, the Lord had been dealing with me and having me pray over a spirit that would hold me back. I got a notice to read a blog post, three times. He was sure telling me something. These words that are so specific are rhema words, they are to be acted upon. When God gives a rhema He often confirms it by a second rhema, that “in the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word (rhema ) be established. II Corinthians 13:1 – The Holy Spirit spoke the rhema to me in prayer, then the post flashed on my screen three times, He was one, I was two and the lady wrote the post, we are all witnesses. That is why it is my prayer that whoever needs to will read  something I write, or even someone else.

Let’s look at the Greek for logos or word –

Study to show yourself approved to God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word( logos ) of truth. II Timothy 2:15

Rhema, means to speak –

The words ( rhema ) that I speak unto you, they are Spirit, and they are life. John 6:63

Here are some examples or rhema words:

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word ( rhema ) of God. Romans 10:17

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word ( rhema) of God. Ephesians 6:17

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word ( rhema) Ephesians 5:25–26

If ye abide in me, and my words ( rhema ) abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. John 15:7

And how about Peter letting down the net after fishing all night and catching nothing, he tried again and brought so many the net was breaking at the rhema of Jesus, Luke 5:5 and Mary accepts God’s rhema about Jesus, how precious was that! Luke 1:38, so rhema words or new revelation or direction, are different to logos and can be a deep study.

The Holy Spirit will never lie and you can trust Him, but I always encourage people to study, we often learn by trial and error but He knows and understands and catches us when we fall. I hope you have revelation of His great love, and as always, it is a joy to share Jesus.
