Like this girl, many of us have our own baggage, and would like to just hit the road sometimes, whether it was our own fault or someone else’s, even if we are happy and have nice families, there are those days, you could just call it quits, and run away, for a weekend or for good. It can that stressful, I know.
But Jesus had offered us rest, and freedom in the Spirit and His peace, from John 14:27. So, what gives? There is a lot of spiritual warfare going on, yes, but we have the Holy Spirit to help with that and the cares of the world, the daily grind. Are we just not letting Him help? Or He has better plans.
But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code. Romans 7:6
We know that Jesus was the only sinless man and the only one who could fulfill the law and the prophets bringing us grace and truth, He was the sacrifice. We are released from the law, the verse said it help us captive. None of us would have ever been able to keep the law, much more than Ten Commandments, Gentiles were not proficient in Judaism and sacrifices, we just couldn’t make enough.
People in the South are offended about the Ten Commandments, and I am sorry about that but Paul calls it the ministry of death that saved many. How many should be saved by the ministry of the Spirit? Jesus commandment to love includes all ten and more. And He has the final say, He paid the price, He even spoke to Saul of Tarsus, knocking him off his high horse, so we have to give some attention to this.
By His death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place. Hebrews 10:20
Jesus did this for us, the curtain or veil of the temple was rent, torn into when He died, it was about four inches thick. This curtain referred to in Hebrews was His very flesh, torn to the bone. He became our High Priest, he made the atonement, if you are still trying to live under the law, you will fail, if you accept His grace, you will have victory in Him, in the new way of the Spirit.
Now, I am not saying that grace gives you a right to sin, far from it, His holiest of sacrifices, will change or break you to pieces, you cannot trample the very Spirit of Grace, considering his blood an unholy thing, Hebrews 10:29, the Spirit of Truth, John 16:13,we need to discern the Spirit of Promise, Ephesians 1:13.
God wanted to be God, He did not want to give commandments, they asked for them and broke them immediately, they even bragged they could do whatever He said, and they could not. No one really could except Jesus and He died to save us and give us access to His Father, by the Spirit. God still wanted to be God, they wanted a king, He told Samuel to give them one and they ended up with Saul.
Do we really want commandments, kings or God? While we are to pray for leaders agreeing with them or not, God still is in control, and has offered us a way, a new way of the Spirit, so we can cast off that weight and baggage, for He cares for us, 1 Peter 5:7.
