A New Day

Light is sweet; how pleasant to see a new day dawning. Ecclesiastes 11:7

Welcome to our new series this month, A New November, or Newvembe We hear that word tossed about a lot, one phrase comes to mind, the new normal. But we are going to look at it from God’s Word and His perspective and there are a lot of ” news ” to look at.

Of course we are all familiar with being new creatures in Christ, but we will delve deeper into that, not only will we look at new creations, but new ways, new life and the new heaven and earth. Today, however is a new day, and while we are still seeing a lot going on in the world, we know the one who overcame so we can.

Ecclesiastes is more wisdom from Solomon, and this verse 1:9, also comes into our study. These verses are from the New Living Translation, 11:7 says in most for your eyes to see the sun.  This one, what has been will be again. Don’t worry about reading and studying different versions, the Holy Spirit read with us if we allow Him to.

History merely repeats itself. It has all been done before. Nothing under the sun is truly new.  I am writing this early but we are seeing more of the same, fear, hearts failing looking after things, Covid, rumors of war, false teaching, division and indecision, looking to the government, leaders and ourselves for answers, but God is still in control and wants us to understand the times and seasons.

Life under the sun repeats itself, life beyond the sun where He dwells is love and peace forever. So when we became a believer, the world is still our home but now with heavenly access. If only we could get the idea of living above it all.

The chapter deals with young and old and that life is meaningless, how you will have dark days, it is about sowing and reaping, what may or may not come back and how we don’t understand God, not even how a child is born. Though there is truth here and there is repetition, no one really has something new to add, a greater one appeared with words that were full of grace, salt and light, hope, peace and rest.

It is still good to wake up each day, to see the sun, just to be alive and even more alive in Christ. Whatever is going on here may be in vain but His sacrifice was not and neither will our lives be, if He is sweet light we see each new day.

When one rules justly over men,
ruling in the fear of God, he dawns on them like the morning light,
like the sun shining forth on a cloudless morning,
like rain that makes grass to sprout from the earth. 2 Samuel 23:3,4

In the morning, O LORD, You hear my voice; at daybreak I lay my plea before You and wait in expectation. Psalm 5:3

God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn. Psalm 46:5

This is the day that the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:124

I rise before dawn and cry for help; I hope in your words. Psalm 119:147

My soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning–more than watchmen wait for the morning. Psalm 130:6

But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day. Proverbs 4:8

Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD has risen upon you. Isaiah 60:1

I admit never having been a morning person but I used to have a spring in my step an look forward to new days and blessings in Him. Somehow, I allowed life and spiritual warfare to overshadow my exuberance, but I learned His rest, His peace and He does make things new and beautiful in His time, so we should find ways to enjoy and rejoice in each new day, to see life through the eyes of the Son, who is on the other side of the sun and is our life and light, even if nothing is new under the sun. And I love to see a shaft of light, warm me over in the morning.
