A New Identity?

My Post (2)

It is November, or Newvember, for our study about God doing a new thing. One subject that comes up quite often is our identity in Christ. So many people are looking for that, when it is really already there. I have a lot of affirmations, saying and quotes, and yes, they are good to say, to recite, and to believe about yourself, you can even write your own or journal them, using a verse, but we don’t have to struggle with it and allow lies or rejection ruin the new, it is God’s plan for our lives and He will show us His hidden treasure within.

2  Corinthians 5:17 says we are a new creation after we are born again, we are accustomed to associating butterflies with that verse. Beating our wings in order become strong, we emerge from the cocoon. A pearl coming out of our shell. We begin to blossom and bloom where He has planted us in good and holy ground. We must not not be plucked up or uprooted, but water by the Spirit and warmed with His love. Nothing plucks us from His heart or hand. But when things happen, we must remain in His rest, at peace  with His peace and keep our joy, so we do not fall back into fear or foolishness.

I have to tell you too, that butterflies though delicate are strong, but they must never be helped from the cocoon or cut out, they will be crippled and die, or just die. And the oyster dies in order to produce the pearl, and by suffocation, that is the last part of crucifixion. Jesus died to make us pearls. He knows when it is safe to emerge, try our new wings and soar. We are to encourage one another, but not force, not even His love on fellow sisters. He is perfecting us, not I. And I have to tell you my identity was identifying with Him, and pain. I was carrying around the wounded Christ, when He was alive and well, and in my heart.

I had to start identifying with the resurrected Christ to be the butterfly, the new creation, to have Him unveil my new and hidden life in Him. It was already there, even as far back as childhood, I was saved at eleven. You are reading part of that life in Him, He is why I write. And the butterfly is a symbol of resurrection, as He is so are we in this world.

So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in Him. By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as He is so also are we in this world. There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. We love because He first loved us. 1 John 4:16-19

You don’t have to look far as a believer, your identity is in Christ, we are to allow His love to perfect us. You must realize how loved you are to love others. You are more like Him than you realize, if you keep in step with the Spirit, He is our teacher, guide and Comforter, the reassurance that He is love. Here are a few other verses about His perfect love, that we have to receive in order to give and conform to, and I wondered why I typed in A Daughter’s Gift Of Love.

He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. Colossians 1:17 NIV

Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but He has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like Him, for we will see Him as He really is. And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as He is pure. 1 John 3:2,3,4

In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent His only Son into the world, so that we might live through Him. 1 John 4:9

These verses in no way limit the phrase, as He is so are we in this world, meaning right now. Jesus died for us, made us righteous, we would never be own our own. We have yet to see His full glory, but He is perfecting us as we walk in love. I do love reading John and will have study in January. John knew He was loved, He called himself the disciple Jesus loved, he identified with Him, the beloved Son of God. We are accepted into the beloved Son by the Father when we are saved. Do you see your self as beloved?

I am not telling you to overthink this, I did and was often stressed. He want us to know and live in His love and let Him be God. We are never to think too highly of ourselves but not so lowly either. I hope this helps. The devil is an identity thief, he will steal your identity in Christ if you let him, he wants you to think you are unloved, he even leaves off the beloved quoting God when tempting Christ. But Jesus wants us to know we are beloved, and our lives are new in Him, sometimes secreted away, a treasure we must seek, but so often right there in front of us, He sees us in Him. Our new identity. Let God be God
