Who doesn’t love getting presents? Truthfully, some are better than others, but God knows people and hearts, and says that even evil people know how to give good gifts to their children, Matthew 7:11, so how much better are His?
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. James 1:17
You will find a list of spiritual gifts listed in 1 Corinthians 12, I advise reading 12,13,14, if you are interested in them or receiving, the Holy Spirit baptism, all believers have the Spirit at salvation, but there is the opportunity to grow in grace.
While the gifts range from tongues to prophecy and even miracles, I believe that there are likely others that may not be listed. The Spirit is always teaching and we can learn everyday with a teachable spirit. There will be times He gives you just the right word to say, I have a post called The Second Adam, I can read it and see where my words stop and His begin, it was like I was typing to keep up with a heavenly message.
There may be many little ways you will notice as you learn to walk in the Spirit. Share some in the comments if you like. God gives good gifts, and you know what? Many are left unopened, because of fear or the feeling of unworthiness. We all should take a look and see what God has for us, He may surprise you.
Have you ever found an unopened gift after the holidays, the one that got pushed back out of sight, or left in a closet, or perhaps a birthday one. have you ever opened an old wallet or purse, and found some cash you had forgotten? Or the last cookie in the box you were about to throw away? We do not want to waste our spiritual gifts. We do not want that, do we? Either by not understanding them or leaving them discarded. Those little unexpected gifts are wonderful, and sometimes, they are substantial, sudden or a spiritual revelation, and what is wonderful is when His peace shows up.
God never begrudges His gifts, they are yours forever, whether you open them or not, if up to you. There is God given talent but some never realize that and either misuse or never reach their true potential, what you do with your gift is your gift to God, the Spirit searches hearts, but not everyone listens the Spirit of God. Never give begrudgingly, God loves cheerful givers., To begrudge is to give or concede reluctantly, envy or resent another person even to wish them ill.
God blesses us all, even sinners to an extent, but how He gives is His choice, harboring ill will over someone’s gift whether God gave it or it was money you loaned, or gave, even a present, and she doesn’t wear it enough for instance, even the education you gave you children. The more I study people, I see why God repented of making them. We don’t want to be like that.
I can tell you writing is a gift. Above all salvation is. And having just done a series on angels, their protection is. But what I know beyond any expectation is that the best gift of all is Jesus and His peace, the rest He offers us. And of course, healing. These two gifts lead to healing.
And their are the fruits of the Spirit, Galatians 5:22. Love, joy and peace, start them off, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. It begins with love and ends in self control, that is a gift when you are upset, anxious or afraid. Return to your place in His love.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. John 14:27
I pray you let Jesus give you His most precious gift.
