Why Being Double Minded Is Not Living In His Peace

My Post (7)

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. James 1:5-8

This passage applies to women as well, and if not especially, because the word wisdom is used in the feminine sense in Proverbs, wisdom is referred to her or she. But it doesn’t make women superior or smarter but on equal ground and free in Christ to have His mind as a believer.

I hate indecision in myself, even though I have been sort of narrow minded and single minded, focusing on Christ, Isaiah 26:3 says that He will keep us in perfect peace with our minds on Him. And that is the place to be, not double minded, but the answer is there, ask for wisdom.

Wisdom  is natural and sometimes referred to as common sense, but it doesn’t necessarily come with age and is not as common these days, I told a woman on the phone who would not answer a question for me, that it was common courtesy to say yes or no, she refused to answer, they say it was breaking the law, but it was they who called me and said my mother was not there. I prayed, waited that out, and told her how stupid that was when she got home, she didn’t have her phone with her, either. And my name is supposed to be on contact lists.

So wisdom, is like God’s own words pure and peaceable, I have been and seen people tossed to an fro and I am sure you have. Women will follow fads or trends in fashion and in faith, the latest self help book, diets, the new preacher. I watched people follow revivals in the 1990’s, but what happened after they were over?

Being double minded is believing but not believing, being healed but not healed, saved but not saved. You can believe, and have questions, even doubts, He understands, but don’t get into having a heart of unbelief, Hebrews 3:12 calls that evil. You are trying to be both Jew and Gentile, keep the law, but live under grace. These thoughts race through weary minds and become depressing, oppressing and tormenting.

Healing, I mentioned because I professed it, as Mark 11:23,24 says, I sowed in the verses. was I healed, yes, in the mind of Christ because of Isaiah 53, and in my mind’s eye, I was too. But was I? I would try to do the things I could not, laid hands on the television with ministers on. What I was failing to see is the blame I put on myself, I was carrying His death around in my heart, not seeing Him as risen, and me as well. His love and revelation changed that. Healing may take time but it is there. Take your medicine, but keep your faith, the doctor will pronounce you well, as the priest pronounced the leper clean, and remember, He healed ten but only one returned to thank Him, are you the one? He asked the man at the pool of Bethesda if he wanted to be healed, in spite of his and answer, Jesus healed Him.

And saved but not saved, the enemy is happy to oblige people who begin to doubt their salvation, it will be a constant whisper of doubt and torment, double minded. If you have believed in His sacrifice and confessed it out loud, received Him as Lord and do your best to follow, if you have His love, fruit, and are not continuing in willful sin, He has  saved you, and forever, you will lose rewards, blessings and yes, wisdom and peace, if you don’t continue in grace, remain in love, but you can be saved by the skin of your teeth. But why stop there when He wants you to have abundant life?

Saul was troubled by a spirit, he hated David, disobeyed God, lost the throne, he also visited the witch of Endor, dabbled into the occult, he was driven mad over time and eventually got himself and Jonathan killed. Samson was another one who continually took the wrong path.  And look at Judas, his love of money, greed, the sinful pride and jealousy of Jesus, made him the only one lost to Jesus. He says we will not be plucked from His hand.

Not every one will be saved and it is not for me to say who is and isn’t saved, you have to judge righteously, and Jesus even said you would know by the fruit. I have seen people think they were saved and now they are not, heard about a woman in tears saying she could not be saved because she had cut her hair, which is wrong, and she got saved.

I am concerned about the repeat after me prayers, people might do that like reciting the pledge of allegiance or a poem, salvation comes from being sincere, having a broken and contrite spirit from being convicted by the Holy Spirit of sin, and repenting with a belief in His love and sacrifice. Romans 8:1 says you will not keep being condemned if you are in Christ, so stop beating yourself up, pray for wisdom, follow Christ not people who can make mistakes, the Holy Spirit will teach you.

Believe me, I know it can be a challenge, you get up feeling not so great, you are out of money, you are facing some giant of a problem, keep your mind on Jesus and not be double minded, know He has made away and defeated the enemy.

And always go back to verses about peace, and even renewing your mind, it might be like you have to sow so much that is appears to be brainwashing but that isn’t so, you feed on His words like you eat every day, tasting and seeing His goodness. And you as a believer are washed in the water of His word. You can’t bathe off some things, spiritual things require spiritual water, the Holy Spirit, the living water. Because living double minded is not His peace.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. John 14:27
