Peace, Peace!

My Post (10)

Double portions of peace? Who could not use that? But there are two verses with that phrase. or similar wording, so let’s look at them.

I have seen his ways, but I will heal him; I will guide him and restore comfort to him and his mourners, bringing praise to their lips. Peace, peace to those far and near,” says the LORD, “and I will heal them.” Isaiah 57:19

This the one I really want to focus on, His peace brings healing, and puts praise on our lips. These people have been backslidden, now repentant, the Lord is restoring them and the doubling of peace is bringing healing.

To those far and near does imply not only both Jew and Gentile, but sinner and saint, those close to God and those far off, but who return to Him and repent. I’m sure many have wondered why He will heal one person and not another. It is just like salvation, some will believe and not others, some will repent and not others, even Christians can remain in sin, or away from His love.

We know Jesus both healed and forgave at the same time, and all kinds of people, sinners, faithful, Roman, Jew, Samaritan, rich, poor. Lame, leper, beggar, government officials. He healed instantly,  from the hour, and as they went. He can heal you in church, at home, on a battlefield, in the United States or South America or the South Pole.

I was always interested in healing. I needed it. I never liked the term faith healers. Though it takes faith in Him, in His name and power, and His peace. I may not have always agreed with all ministries, but I loved Jesus.

I was always careful to pray for others to be healed, even if mine wasn’t totally there yet. The enemy will get you into the ” Why Me? ” Though I found it hard to find joy in pain, I did my best and was always praying for others, even if I wasn’t healed. But  I never had a doubt that He would. Peace, peace, and He heals me. Never let go of you hope, got to the doctor but stay in faith. And receive His peace, John 14:27.

And then there is the other phrase.

While people are saying, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. 1 Thessalonians 5:3

While it is not exactly peace, peace, it will translate security, safety and tranquility. So, in effect it is what is being said, but it is not the peace, peace, Isaiah refers to. It is a false sense of security that will be in place before the day of the Lord.

Now, I tend to see this as even just before the Rapture or catching away of the church, before the Great Tribulation, and we know the second half of that will definitely be horrendous, as a false Christ, religious leader and peace treaty, go totally wrong. Never take that mark, it will be sudden destruction and eternal damnation.

This verse is very much in play today and so close, even at the door. But thankfully, so is Isaiah 57:19, and peace, peace and He will heal us.
