We all need His peace from John 14:27, it is a gift when you are about to panic, find yourself under stress, I don’t believe Jesus ever meant for people to be so oppressed, depressed of stressed, why emphasized that His peace was a gift and not to let our hearts be troubled or afraid, He knew what it did .
He knew what it did to Him, He bore it for us by wearing a crown of thorns crushed into His skull and perhaps brain, Isaiah says He was chastised or punished for our peace. Think of it this way, if you took a beating for you child, would you insist He be punished as well? And from the child’s point of view, an immature one would be pleased if the parent was spanked instead, or put in a corner, or made to sit time out, but a loving and respectful one would be appreciative.
We, as believers, took advantage of the plan of salvation, but do we appreciate all the benefits? I have always hated that He had to die for me, but what if He hadn’t? So let’s look at some peace verse, to memorize, speak over ourselves and to journal or share with others. First, our foundational verse.
