No one who abides in Him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen Him or known Him. 1 John 3:6
Ever really wonder about some people who are proclaiming Christ but go right on sinning. I’m not talking about those who understands grace, and is forgiven, because we can sin everyday, through omission or commission, but the one who mocks His very gift of grace and allows others the privilege to refer to it as ” cheap grace. ” Grace was not and is not cheap, it cost Jesus everything, and it might those who cheapen it, the words to depart, that He never knew you, would be hard to hear.
We are supposed to know fellow believers by their fruit. Lots of people might walk the walk and talk the talk, but do their bear fruit or rotten apples? What you do with Christians is one thing and with others quite another, you can’t live both ways. You can’t have it both ways.
But if you abide or live in the love of Christ, you have seen and known Him. How do you see Him? In His words, in others and even dreams or visions. If you truly know Him you won’t keep on sinning, period. Why would you want to? It is not about giving up things but enjoying in abundance the right things, the best God has for you.
Here are some other verses, and reasons to want too know Him and not keep sinning.
The world’s sin is that it refuses to believe in me. John 16:9
For sin will not rule over you, for you are not under law, but under grace? What then? Are we to sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means! Romans 6:14.15
If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. f we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. 1 John 1:8,9
By this we can be sure that we have come to know Him: if we keep His commandments.
If anyone says, “I know Him,” but does not keep His commandments, he is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 1 John 2:2,3 ( to love God and one another )
Little children, let no one deceive you: The one who practices righteousness is righteous. The one who practices sin is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the very start. This is why the Son of God was revealed, to destroy the works of the devil. Anyone born of God refuses to practice sin, because God’s seed abides in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God. 1 John 3:7-9
You can be sure He will forgive you and His blood covers your sin if you occasionally miss the mark, hamartia, one Greek word for sin, we all fall short of His glory, Romans 3:23, but 24 shows His grace and 8:1 that He is not condemning us over what He has forgiven. Practicing sin is continuing in it, knowing it is wrong. This is difference to being a willing and continual sinner, and perhaps not knowing Him at all.
If you love Him and have accepted Him as Lord, don’t keep sinning.
