Something To Pray

My Post

Do you have a prayer list? Do you pray for people? Do you even remember to when you promise someone you will? At home, in church, anywhere there is a need? Do you ask them if it is alright? Are they open to being  prayed for in tongues, having hands laid on them or being anointed with oil, receiving Communion? Are you even comfortable praying for others? Are you being challenged to step out of your comfort zone?

Let’s talk about prayer for a moment. I know you could not even comprehend the depth of a fervent prayer, I couldn’t, but I was always praying, without ceasing in the Spirit, I even had to back off a little, I was wearing myself out, thankfully, Jesus never does. There will be times you have to pray your way through but He is right there. He makes intercession for us and we can also pray intercession.

Jesus gave us the model prayer in the sermon on the mount. The Lord’s Prayer. ” Lead us not into temptation, deliver us from evil. ” That is always good, we will face down temptation and be protected with that one, He never allows us to be over tempted. But the forgiveness, is important as well and the best line, as many people struggle to know His will, is for it to be as it is in heaven here on earth. https://biblehub.com/nlt/matthew/6.htm

Many people don’t know how to pray. Prayers should always line up with Scripture, you can pray the verse you need over your life, family and others. Many well meaning people pray amiss, I have had them to over me, I felt worse, even a little confused, which is not God. When you pray something that is not in love asking God to or telling Him to change someone, make them do this or that, it will not work. God is in control, but will not control a person’s free will, they have to choose His love.

You may not realize how that is akin, to if not, witchcraft, God doesn’t work that way, He is love. So, when you pray for Him to make your boss give you a raise, make someone love you, your children stop whatever it is they do, you probably won’t see results.

Let’s look at God’s way. ” Father, I ask you for favor in my work, that my bosses will notice my efforts as I do my best for you. ”  ” Father, I am lonely, as I wait for the right person to love and who will love me, please keep me in your love. ”  ” Father, you see my children, I love them but they are out of control, sent them a friend of your choosing, and a revelation of your love. ” And always ask in His name, but I have seen prayers answered that were just an unselfish statement, He wants you to ask that your will be full.

And please don’t think your prayers aren’t answered even if they look like they are not. Why? I have  prayed for to be saved, were they, no, at least not until the very last chance. I prayed for people to be given and heart of flesh instead of stone, last minute salvation. And some will sadly still refuse.

Jesus healed ten lepers but only one returned with thanks. People can remain unholy and unthankful and return to their old ways, even as a believer and not walk in His promises of healing and other blessings. You can’t have it both ways, disability and  healing. Yes, you can believe Him as you receive benefits, but I heard of a man who was healed, but still wanted to draw his check, a waitress who was deaf receiving healing, going back to work at a noisy club, and worst of all a woman’s cancerous tumor fell from her face, in fear, she never bothered to feel the new skin, she picked up the cancer and put it back on. While most things may not be that extreme, life is fragile and should be handle with prayer.

As for fear and worries, Jesus says not to, so pray what lines up with that. He understands because He was human, He died a horrible death to purchase salvation for us and redeem our souls, He did not have to, but He did. We never deserved it or were worthy, yet He was full of mercy and grace, His perfect love saves and made what was unrighteous, righteous, and there is no place for self righteousness.

Please don’t believe the enemy’s lies that you can’t pray your way out of a paper bag. Are you even in one? That they don’t go past the ceiling. They would not have to. The Holy Spirit is in you as a believer in Christ, He hears you and prays for you Romans 8:26, even if you don’t operate in spiritual gifts. But you can follow love and desire them, study 1 Corinthians 12,13, and 14, His gifts are powerful and peaceful, but once you have them walk in them, pray in the Spirit, don’t go backwards.

Let’s look at some prayer verses.

When you pray, don’t be like the hypocrites who love to pray publicly on street corners and in the synagogues where everyone can see them. I tell you the truth, that is all the reward they will ever get. Matthew 6:5

And He told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart. https://biblehub.com/nlt/luke/18.htm

My prayer is not for the world, but for those you have given me, because they belong to you. John 17:9

Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. Ephesians 6:18

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Phillipians 1:6

Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart. Colossians 4:2

Rejoice at all times. Pray without ceasing. 1 Thessalonians 5:16,17

These are but a few and there are many more. we should not pray to be seen, but at all times, about everything and be joyful that we have a Savior who listens, but is it up to people to receive as well having a free will. He actually told Jeremiah to not pray for some and that they would not listen, which is why I have prayed for the lost and I know He will give them every chance, the book of Revelation tells us about those who do not or will not repent, that is my prayer for them.

And for believers, I pray you receive wisdom, His peace and the healing and deliverance in Him, so go boldly before the throne and ask, and receive in His name, He too, is praying for you. And I know you have something to pray.
