This is a southern saying, and I will explain it in our month of mother sayings and fun ones. This is something people still say in the south, even if they only cut it down to God willin’, For willing. we drop a lot of g’s y’all.
You might hear someone say, “See you at church next week, God willin’. ” Or I’ll meet you for dinner on Saturday, or be at your cookout, God willin’. But the original phrase dates way to the late 18th and early 19th century. Many people lived in rural towns or villages and there were no highways and few streets, man people had access to footbridges and that is how they got to town or a neighbor’s house. If the creek rose, well they could not. One of my great, great, about four great uncle’s didn’t make it across one, he was an Irish immigrant.
You see all those lovely paintings of guardian angels watching children, that is why. They were prominent fixtures in schools and churches and became popular in homes as well, so that is the story, behind the saying. But what is God’s will, many people have trouble discerning that, but the Holy Spirit will help you discern. Let’s look at the Word.

Now, there are verses that mention suffering for Christ, and often we do as believers, but it is better to suffer what is right because He knows and is just, but there are also ,am who don’t believe He answers prays or says no, but people who truly believe are not going to ask anything against His will, the only perfect prayers are prayed in the Spirit. And He intercedes for us. Romans 8:26
We know that God does not listen to sinners, but He does listen to the one who worships Him and does His will. John 9:31

And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to His will He hears us. 1 John 5:14
I hope this helps clarify the will of God, sometimes, He answers prayers in a better way than we understand and will explain it if you ask, there are a lot of things we don’t know but He does, His plans for us are good, the best, we may not always see that but they are and He will answer all questions someday, but we can expect good and give Him glory and it will be beautiful in His time.
Be back tomorrow, God willin’, and He is.
