You Are So Far Above It

A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Proverbs 31:15

He is far above every ruler, authority, power, dominion, and every name that can be named, not only in the present age, but also in the one to come. Ephesians 1:21

He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that He might fill all things. Ephesians 4:10

When I get into discussions that do not go well, I have learned to walk away, not explain anything more. Or at least, I am getting better at it. I don’t have to defend myself, I am then happy that I have had that saying soak in that I am far above it. It is something we need to apply to all our lives.

You, as a believer, are far above, arguing and gossip. We should never be little tattletales or brats. The behavior you dislike in your own children, you won’t like in yourself, it doesn’t look good on us, it doesn’t wear well. God doesn’t like it either, there will be times we should speak up, have to tell something, but use that wisdom. while we are not yet to the Proverbs 31 woman in our study, the quote and verse go together.

We have but to look at the wisdom of Proverbs and see what noble character is, and isn’t. And Solomon who was so wise did foolish things, remember his mother was Bathsheeba, who gets a bad reputation, I have never been able to determine if she knew David was on the balcony or he just happened along, being summoned by the king was an order and she could have been afraid, she was complicit, but must have taught Solomon and is responsible for the wisdom of the chapter.

Jesus outranks Him by far, and we have even greater wisdom from Him and because we have been given the Holy Spirit. We have His authority over our own souls, and we can choose words and thoughts, that bring life of death, blessings or curses, thoughts and words become actions, we have to submit to God and resist the devil’s temptation for Him to flee. That is wisdom and proof that we are believers and followers of Jesus, walking worthy of Him and not turning back.

We have Jesus, the mind of Christ that we have to renew, the Spirit, the weapons of His warfare, and His name above all names Ephesians 1:21, Jesus is far above anyone and anything, everyone and everything. Look at the list, every ruler, power, authority, or dominion. And these are not just people but spiritual  entities, fallen angels, dominions. They rule over cities and countries, all demons are subject to Him. In this age and the next, eternity.

And He did pay a high price to redeem our souls as believers, even descending to hell to take back Adam’s lost authority, and the keys of death, hell and the grave.

But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. Ephesians 2:13

Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be the glory…..Ephesians 3:20

For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity dwells in bodily form. And you have been made complete in Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority. Ephesians 2:10

And, of course, believers have been raised to be seated in heavenly places, that is far above, and His name is above all names, far above. Phillipians 2:9, worth is measured in more than money, though He does prosper us, is it any wonder any woman or wife is considered excellent and far above rubies.

So let’s be still and know God, Psalm 46:10, sometimes we are striving and strife gets into our lives and we want His peace, and while we struggle for it, trying to be the Proverbs 31 woman, Ephesians 2:10, declares us complete in Him, so we can be far above it.

  1. Yes, we are complete in Him. And it might be hard to hold our tongue sometimes and walk away or speak lovingly, but He gives us the strength and courage to rely on Him and not fall into arguments that don’t get anywhere. He enables us to speak the truth in love. Blessings to you, Rebecca!
