When Your Heart Is In His Hands / Serendipity

Our posts this month are about love, God’s love. So much more than ours, He is everything that 1 Corinthians 13, the Love Chapter says, it is talking about Jesus. It is all about about Jesus. No one loves more than Jesus, forgives more than Jesus, sacrificed more than Jesus. Once, you become a believer, are saved or born again, whatever you prefer to call it, your heart is in His hands.

One of my favorite words is serendipity. I’m a ” wordy “.  I like learning new words, Word studies. It means “fortunate happenstance” or “pleasant surprise”, something that is unexpected and wonderful. Though created by a British nobleman, from a Persian fairy tale who characters stumbles upon treasure, and is used for luck. Believers should know that luck is more superstition and rooted in witchcraft. Faith in God is neither, He searches our hearts and for those who believe in and pursue Him, they will find serendipity all the same. We may pursue Him but finds us, we are favored and fortunate, and God can be full of surprises, I have learned not to underestimate His desire to answer prayers or limit Him, as to time or means of doing it.

You may not always realize it but there is someone praying for you and that is serendipitous in time of need, it can also be just as simple as wishing you had a doughnut or some candy, and someone arrives with it. God sees and puts even simple requests on hearts that are close and respond  in love. And often you are praying for people you don’t know or who are far away.

Jesus describes Himself as one with the Father, and the Father so loved the world that He gave, Jesus. And after completing His work on the cross, just as God did at creation, He returned to heaven and sent the Spirit, so we could believe and be saved, we have the Spirit to teach, comfort, and remind us of His words. He speaks to our hearts, searches them, gives us God’s desires for them. He offered His rest.

So, our hearts are safe in His hands, His healing hands, His nail scarred hands, His loving hands. Our names are in the Book of Life and engraved deeply in His palms and wrists. We have all heard the song. He’s Got The Whole World In His Hands. well, He certainly does, the sun, moon and stars, brother and sister, the little bitty babies, all of us who believe and remain in His love. How do we remain in His love? By remaining in His words and they in us, and we will remain in His hands. And it is serendipitous to find a new verse you might have missed that is packed with power or what you needed to hear. Or even to read and old one and realize something you missed before, a deeper nugget of truth in His Word. See the footnote.

Nothing ever separates from His love, Romans 8:38.  I can tell you that John understood love, he got it, even calling himself the disciple Jesus loved. You might guess there was friction if the others didn’t understand as well. He loved them all but some people just get it more than others.

Some of us just know our hearts are in His hands. It is not head knowledge, it is heart knowledge. Where is your heart today? Mine would often get over into worry and sometimes fear, and would be troubled  but Jesus has this answer.

Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. John 14:1

Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled; do not be afraid. John 14:27

A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you also must love one another. John 13:34

In this is love, not that we have loved God but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 1 John 4:10

We love Him because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19

Let all that you do be done in love. 1 Corinthians 16:14

Proverbs 21:1 reminds us that the kings heart is in the hand of the Lord and He turns it.  God can turn the hearts of any man, any leader, He is still in control, no matter what comes for us and we should pray for people to give their hearts to Him, While everyone has a free will, God can move on hearts for the benefit of His people.

I recommend reading John, 1, 2 and 3rd John for studies on love, of course, there are many verses on love, and February is a a great time to study them, And let our hearts be safe in His hands. You are safe when your heart is in His hands. I know I am even with all that goes on around me.

And He calls many, chooses few, the fact is He wants all to be saved or chosen, but not all pursue Him, I thought I chose Him and the truth is He chose me, so that is my definition of serendipity, I searched for Him and He found me. I remember suggesting this word, thank Anita, and all who voted for it It’s one of my favorites.

What is called PRDS in Hebrew with no vowels, pardes, meaning orchard. The first, P’shat, simple, Remez, a hint, D’rush or possibly D’rash, which I believe means honey, an allegory, and Sod or secret, it is compared to entering the holy of holies, and can include kabbalah or mysticism. I am interested in Hebrew studies, but not any occult practices.

God does promise to show us thing s we didn’t know, so we must study and rightly divide. It is why we have the Holy Spirit,
