While we are studying peace this December, Christmas Peace, His Peace, how can we leave out heavenly peace? Or actually, the line from one of our favorite carols, Silent Night? While the song is about the birth of Christ, the beloved Prince of Peace, and calling for He and the Holy family to sleep in heavenly peace, we can take it as a promise for ourselves as well.
Jesus is our best Christmas gift ever as a believer, and when we are born again or receive salvation, we are accepted into the beloved by the Father. And we are loved by the Father and have been redeemed, Jesus gave us His Father, and we are accepted into the beloved, Jesus.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons ( or daughters ) by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved. Ephesians 1:3-6
Now, with the beloved being explained lets look at another verse, keeping mind He has been talking about building and the guards at night. He says if doesn’t build the house it is vain.
It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for He gives to His beloved sleep. Psalm 127:2
So you see how He wants us to rest in His love, and sleep in a heavenly peace. He wants to build our house, be our temple, the Spirit resting in us and that is also wisdom.
The wisest of women builds her house, but folly with her own hands tears it down. Proverbs 14:1
Let’s not help the enemy tear down our houses with our not resting and sleeping in heavenly peace, that is a part of salvation, and I believe that salvation is so much more than that one time experience, it is ongoing. He saves me from something everyday, and I know about clocking watch, fear, worry and not being able to turn off your mind. That is why I have studied Isaiah 53, and Hebrews 4, and written so much about rest, peace and healing goes together.
So let me leave you with His peace again,
Peace I leave to you as a gift of mind and heart, my peace I give you, not as the world gives you, Give I to you. Let not your heart be troubled or afraid. John 14:27
