Tasting Rest

Most people probably thought I was crazy when I wrote about Christmas as being a season of rest. Well, really, we are supposed to enjoy His rest everyday, as believers. Jesus offered it in Matthew 28, Hebrews 4 describes it in great detail, it is something that God offered the children of Israel and they refused.

Believe me, this is nothing to take lightly, as we taste and see His goodness this month. His rest is key. Paramount to healing and deliverance and our walk with Christ. The Israelites always wanted a king instead of God, and they sure had them, some were better than others but He let them have their way, and withdrew rest.

Jesus had to give His life in order for us to have any hope of redemption. We can see God’s goodness and grace to people in the Bible as well as all around us. And you and I would do well to see who understood His rest. David was king, even sending a man to his death and an adulterer, and yet, is a man after God’s own heart, because of repentance and he understood rest, it is in a lot of psalms, he knew how to believe God against all circumstances and enemies.

Just last week, I received a prophetic word about rest nd it was for me and a lot of others, it was about deeper rest and that God was healing a lot of old wounds, and though we were resting, God was going deeper. I wondered why I was feeling sick, nausea, and so on. I really felt prisoned but it is all that negative and toxic talk in our atmosphere, the things we have been praying to be deliver of  or healed. It can go back to childhood, sibling rivalry. jealousy, as well as persecution it was affliction. The devil began to pile it on as we stood in faith, but that is over if we let the Lord’s rest overtake us deeply in our souls.

We have seen the fervor as our own election was held. But believers who know and understand rest will realize no matter who is in charge, God is on the throne, and we have to choose to rest and let God be God. I seldom write about politics but agree or disagree with lawmakers or policies, I have always done what the Word said and prayed for people in authority. I really don’t know everything, but I do see the lawlessness and disregard for life, so the spirit of antichrist exists and is just closer than ever to the appearance of the man of sin’s arrival, but I believe in a pre Tribulation catching away of the church, the true believers, not just people who think they know Him. That is a leader we would not want to live under, but we can rest in God and trust His timing, His ways are so much higher.

While fear and confusion are a part of life as we know it, we can have His love, joy, peace and rest in the Spirit. Jesus rested and taught rest. So again, it is not only an election year but again time for Thanksgiving in America, and believe me, no matter what you think or how bad things are we have a lot to be thankful for. That is not one of those answers that Jesus will just solve all you problems, amen and hallelujah. Not just to deal with it, get used to it or get over it, not all all. Jesus was a man of sorrows, acquainted with grief, He was persecuted by ” religious ” people.

And now He is a risen Lord, and High Priest of our profession and offering us rest in any season. He understands what you are going through more than you do. Who among us have not have had our lives upset by a loss? Even so, there is rest, and Jesus offer stands. So with whatever changes are in store, whatever the holiday plans may be, don’t allow yourself to be overwhelmed and overwrought by thoughts, worries and fears from that wicked one and rest. It is disobedience not to. And He is calling for a season of deep rest. And god will take the garbage from our lives, and apply the balm of Gilead.

Remember it is a spiritual and literal rest, continual rest because God finished creation and Jesus finished His work on the cross, the plan of redemption, not all will receive, but we want to rest. It is worship, sacred and holy to have rest in your heart and soul. Jesus is the calm in any storm. That is a good visual.

Let’s taste His rest.

There remains, then, a Sabbath rest for the people of God. For whoever enters God’s rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from His. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following the same pattern of disobedience. Hebrews 4:9-11

It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD. Lamentations 3:26

Be still in the presence of the LORD, and wait patiently for Him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes. Psalm 37:7

Rest in God alone, O my soul, for my hope comes from Him. Psalm 62:5 ( Berean, all the translations of this verse are good. )
