Let’s face it, when things are tough and there are problems all around we can find it difficult to see God’s goodness, right off there is our visual, the proverbial forest, no, it should be clear to the righteous. Why? Because God is good all the time.
Let me help you to see, and it is not just positive thinking, or the half empty / half full glass. It is truth, all the time because He is in us. He is omnipotent, we aren’t. We are limited, He isn’t. And He is omniscient, big word, it means He knows everything! Lots of people are just know it alls, let’s look and some instances and then focus on His goodness.
I will give you an example, I once fell and hit the back of my head on a glass table in the sun room. I got up and was fine, but a couple of days later, I dreamed I had a broken neck. Thank God, I didn’t but obviously could have had.
He protects in many ways. perhaps you had a collision on the highway, maybe, even got hurt but, you were not killed. Suppose you had a storm to damage you house, you have a leak in the roof, but your house is still standing. Those fires that raced through, some have had storage sheds burned and not the house. In my case, there were lies spoken over me, they have come to nothing, I still have a good name.
If you don’t give up or allow the enemy to cloud or blind your vision of a loving Father, you will see His goodness. I know I should not be alive to be writing this. God is good all the time.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever. Psalm 23:6
Good and upright is the LORD: therefore will He teach sinners in the way. Psalm 25:8
I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living. Psalm 27:13
He loves righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD. Psalm 33:5
Give me a sign of your goodness, that my enemies may see it and be put to shame, for you, LORD, have helped me and comforted me. Psalm 86:17
The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and He knows them that trust in Him. Nahum 1:7
Oh, how abundant is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you and worked for those who take refuge in you, in the sight of the children of mankind! Psalm 31:19
Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? Romans 2:4
Therefore consider the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in His goodness. Romans 11:22
For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true. Ephesians 5:9
Even Jesus says in Matthew 17, why call Him good, only God is. There are many other verse to study here, but this is one I chose to close with.
How can I repay the LORD for all His goodness to me? Psalm 116:12, the answer is I can’t, neither can you. He was good when we didn’t deserve it, and when obeyed, and all He wants is our love. Think again how you can see His goodness.
