April Fools and Wisdom

April Fool’s Day is a riot to a lot of people. But the Bible has a lot to say about fools, so let’s look at a few verses shall we and then we  will talk about some foolish things and even a few foolish people in the next few posts. It may be fun to loosen the ketchup lid, pour shaving cream on someone’s face who is sleeping and then tickle them to get then to slap their own face, not that I have done this. But some stunts and pranks are just cruel. Hey, I could sent a friend of mine a plastic donut, but seriously, God has a sense of humor, but He hates the foolish. And if you think Christians can’t be foolish, saved but foolish, think again.

The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, They have done abominable works, There is none who does good. Psalm 14:1

Fearing the LORD is the beginning of moral knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 1:7

Doing wrong is like a joke to a fool, but wisdom is pleasure to a man of understanding. Proverbs 10:23

A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness. Proverbs 12:23

The proud speech of a fool brings a rod to his back, but the lips of the wise protect them. Proverbs 14:3

Leave the presence of a fool, for there you do not meet words of knowledge. Proverbs 14:7

The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way, And the folly of fools is deceit. Proverbs 14:8

Fools find no pleasure in understanding but delight in airing their own opinions. Proverbs 18:2

Don’t speak when a fool is listening, because he’ll despise your wise words. Proverbs 23:9

Like snow in summer or rain in harvest, honor is not fitting for a fool. Proverbs 26:1

It is better for a man to hear the rebuke of the wise than to hear the song of fools. Ecclesiastes 12:5

Fools are put in many high positions, while the rich occupy the low ones. Ecclesiastes 10:6

The toil of a fool so wearies him that he does not even know how to go to a city. Ecclesiastes 10:15

For although they knew God, they neither glorified Him as God nor gave thanks to Him, but they became futile in their thinking and darkened in their foolish hearts. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools. Romans 1:21, 22

Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. 1 Corinthians 13:8

And there are many more. Christianity is foolish to some but  it is wisdom. What Jesus did for us foolish to some but I am so glad He loves me and if He saves you from an eternity in hell and you are wise enough to praise Him and accept it. That is wisdom.
