As we wind down our month of hearts, I had the phrase Protected Heart come to mind. Guarding is protection, right? And Proverbs 4:23 tells us to guard it. And we should, by watching what goes in it, what we see, hear and say. Jesus taught that we speak out of the abundance of our hearts, so they need protection if we are to walk in His love, protection from ourselves and others.
That was before Jesus came, now Phillipians 4:7 says that the peace of God will guard it or protect it in Christ. And we know angels are protecting us. We truly need to not only believe that but receive that today, don’t wait another minute if you are like me, can get anxious or frustrated over constant pressures and spiritual warfare. Receive His rest, receive His peace and protect your heart. Broken ones can be mended but it doesn’t have to go that way.
For our study we had talked about hearts and spirits often being interchangeable. As a believer, Jesus lives in your heart, the Holy Spirit is in your spirit. He is there at salvation, but will give gifts as He sees fit. And there is the baptism of John, in water, and with the Holy Spirit, Jesus baptizes with fire. And He protects.
You don’t always have to defend yourself, He will. You have nothing to prove. He will show you. You may have to stand. He will stand with you. You may have to speak , He will give you what to say. He prays for you. Romans 8:36
