The Right Kind of Fearful Heart

What is a fearful heart? It is paired with unbelieving ones in Revelation, the first people in the lake of fire. That in itself should be a sobering thought. Having the right kind of fearful heart is one that is reverent, respectful of God. The right kind of fearful heart would realize that God has the final say.

That heart would know that He is in control, the creator of the universe, who sent His Son to save those who would believe, and that heart would know that He could let you go to hell and will, though He loves you and does not want you to. You simply cannot disrespect or disregard that sacrifice. If you do, then He has given a free will to all of us and it won’t be He but you sending yourself there.

And that extends to His Holy Spirit, I see a lot of mockery, that I don’t like, and I know He doesn’t. But Jesus says He is not concerned what people say about Him but about the Spirit. He says that blasphemy against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven, now, He was speaking to a particular group of people but would you really want to be defiant enough to try it? I know people try my patience, surely, they must His.

But we are to try spirits, to discern, only the Holy Spirit can help us do that as believer, He convicts us so we know we need saving and the enters our hearts or spirits is a better word here, and begins to teach us. What would we do without Him? Easy answer, go to hell.

God does not want us to be afraid of Him, but to respect and love Him He does not want obedience out of fear but of love. He has not us given a Spirit of fear as believers, but of power, love and a sound mind. 1 Timothy 1:7.  The Holy Spirit comes along beside us to keep us from fear.

Isaiah 54 teaches His covenant of peace. It plainly states that the unholy three, as I call them, are not, repeat, not from Him. So who is fear, the waster, the wicked one, the adversary. Now, there is a verse that says He created the waster to destroy. It appears He is using the devil as a teaching tool, but that isn’t so. The Holy Spirit is our teacher.

It is a matter of commas, I created the waster, to destroy. He later says Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil. Let’s look at destroy.

Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. 1 John 3:8

The Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them. Luke 9:56

The thief comes but to steal, kill and destroy, but I have come that you may have life and life more abundantly. John 10:10

Then the man of lawlessness will be revealed, but the Lord Jesus will slay him with the breath of His mouth and destroy him by the splendor of His coming. 2 Thessalonians 2:8

I can hardly wait for Him to come, I do believe the Rapture or catching away is first. Jesus even told Jairus to not be afraid to just believe before He raised his daughter from the dead. I believe He will meet believers before He returns to destroy that enemy.

So respect God’s power and don’t be afraid, just believe His love is real and He does not want you to fear, just believe.
