Do you know what the word ecclesia means? It means to be called out. I remembered the word and knew it was definitely about being called out by Christ, that literally is what the church is, though this is more specific. You have not chosen me but I have chosen you. Jesus said this to His disciples. John 15:16
Imagine being Matthew collecting taxes and He walks by and says follow me, or dropping a net to walk with Him like Peter, something about Him and a mere two words changes your life forever. It may not have been like that for us or even a Saul like encounter, but we loved Him because He first loved us. 1 John 4:9
And we are all called to something, some, more than others. That’s fine, we all have importance to Him. Don’t ever be upset that you are not like someone else. You were called to be you. Let God decide, not others. They may force opinions and ideas on you but follow Jesus. He gave the Holy Spirit to help us and give spiritual gifts, as He sees fit. You may not be able to do some things but are good at others.
But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people, but now are a people of God, who had not obtained mercy but who now has obtained mercy. 1 Peter 2:9,10.
Notice you are called out of darkness and into His marvelous light. Literally and spiritually. There is good darkness, the Holy Spirit hovered of the face of the deep. God declared darkness good in the beginning. It has been hijacked throughout the ages by an enemy who would destroy our rest and even communion with God in the night.
Some people are not afraid of the dark but of the light, that it will shine and call out their wrongs. And some people can appear to be full of light and be very deceptive with a dark or hardened heart. It takes the Spirit to discern and He will not deceive. In Romans 4:17, God calls life to the dead, in effect things that be not as though they were.
He called Abraham, a Father of many nations, when he was not. Twenty five years later, he was. Did God have a set time or did he and Sarah, slow Him down, I think He has set times, and I think we can hinder and grieve the Spirit. He called Mary to be the mother of Jesus, and she was not even married. He called Peter, the rock on which the church would be built, and he was denying Him, perhaps even inwardly much less before the cock crowed.
What are you calling out? As a believer, you have faith and it can grow. You have authority to call out to God in that faith, for things to be as He intends and not as they are. I have had to speak so much peace lately, I was calling it to me, and even His rest because I could not rest. I called healing for years, it would come and sometimes go as I was back in the go and go, keep on going mode.
What I am telling is you is to call out the bad and call in the good, the exchange of blessings and cursings. We don’t want to even curse or condemn in our thoughts or hearts, I am guilty of that even in righteous anger, it may explode into words. It is better to be silent if you cannot explain the gospel to others. There are those who refuse to understand, because God is willing to give knowledge and understanding. Proverbs 2:6 and James tells us to ask for wisdom.
Call God’s best for you and your family. Call His love and peace, the joy of the Lord. The enemy can and will steal blessings so call him out to, he belongs in his darkness, we do not, God’s darkness was good and rest belongs in our night. The enemy even tries to imitate the light and fails miserably, the Holy Spirit will show you, if you submit to Him and God’s perfect will for you.
Call it forth. Life for death. Blessings not curse. Peace not confusion. You are a called out one if you are a believer in Christ, and He cas called you to His marvelous light.
