Well, how do you? Ask a dozen people you may get a dozen answers. Many people only think of Him as a baby in a manger or on the cross. Some people will just call on Him if they need Him. Some would say rabbi or prophet, even teacher or a good man, someone from history. And a lot of people would not believe in Him at all or that He was wrong somehow.
Many people identify themselves as Christians simply because they are not Jews or Muslims, or some other religion. That doesn’t necessarily mean that they have accepted Him as Lord or have personal knowledge and relationship with Him, but wise men sought Him and a king feared Him, enough to have infants killed.
He came as a baby, He had to experience what we would only He never sinned and took our place, giving us redemption or salvation, if we believed. He was crucified and raised from the dead. He is called the second Adam, the first of many brothers and sisters, He is the Messiah, Yeshua. He is the name above all names, the Sar Shalom, the Prince of Peace, He is referred to again as Shiloh, meaning peace.
The Rose of Sharon, Lily of the Valley, the Daystar. He is the beloved Son of God. He was and is echad, Hebrew for one, pronounced e-hod, meaning one, He and the Father were and are one. He is the second person of the Holy Trinity, His is desire is for us to be one with the Spirit.
He was a storyteller of parables, He was / is, Jehovah Rapha, the healer, the Word made flesh who dwelt among them and is with us now by His Spirit. He is the one who loves souls. The mender of broken bodies, hearts and lives. He is salvation itself, He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and end.
He is the Lamb of God slain from the foundation of the world. He is the great I AM. He is everlasting love. He is the same, yesterday, today and forever. He is the only one worthy to open the Book of Life. He is the High Priest of our profession. He is the way, the truth and the life.
Jesus was and always has been the light of the world. He is the door, and He knocks at the door of hearts. He is the Christ, the anointed one, that is what Christ means, it means God poured His Spirit in and on Him, that is the same Spirit that saves us, baptizes us and gives gifts, the same Spirit that raised Him from the dead.
I could give you more names, and God’s names, He embodies them all. But this is just a study to make you think about who Jesus is to you. Is He Lord of your life? Friend closer than a brother? Did He just save a poor old sinner or is He the savior who made someone unworthy, worthy? Who was unrighteous, righteous? Did He save you by grace and give you grace upon grace? Or are you hoping works will count? Hoping to earn your way to heaven, it doesn’t work that way?
He is life and life more abundantly. He will never leave or forsake us, never leave us orphans, He will come to us. He will answer when you call. He is the bread of life, of heaven our manna. Is He your go to person or the last one you call? Is He the first one you think about in the morning and last one at night.
Is your relationship with the Lord an acquaintance, only enough to say hello to or speak to on occasions, casual, like meeting for lunch, once in a while, is it on again off again. Is it familial? What would do if He came to your house? You know His home is your heart, He really should already live there. Is it intimate, spiritual, like a marriage, only deep in spirit? Could you know what He is thinking, finish His sentences, know what He wants and needs you to do and what to avoid. Do you say the right things, do you argue with Him?
Can you feel His presence? He calls you by name and your are His, you are accepted by the Father, into the beloved, Jesus. Is He your joy and your delight? He has left you His peace as a gift one many? Is He your treasure. where your heart is? How you see Jesus says a lot about you, He wants to be a part of your life, it should revolve around Him as He hovers over you.
If you see Him on a cross, He is wounded to you. If you see Him risen He is alive to you. You must see Him as grace and truth, or you will accept condemnation. You must look into the eyes of love and be transfixed by His beauty, if you value money or material things or even your own life more, you could turn away like the rich, young ruler.
I used to sing a song to children, and it is one of His names, actually, I still sing it sometimes. Isn’t He wonderful, wonderful wonderful, Isn’t Jesus my Lord wonderful? Yes, He is wonderful and peaceful power. Now, once again, how do see you Him? Jesus my Lord, is wonderful. And He is His Father’s Son.
Though many religions may teach some of His messages and about peace, He remains the beloved Son of God. No other god died for anyone. He is the Alpha and Omega was there in the beginning, and He will be there at the end, and His love is everlasting.
I wrote this for myself because I identified with His suffering so much, I had to see Him alive and as my intercessor, someone on the throne of heaven and the mercy seat of my heart. Someone who loved me, and was not condemning me as I often had myself. I had to simply delve into His beauty and love, and there is grace and peace.
I am not here to judge, but I do believe He is the only way, and I only ask people to consider that eternal decision.
