Build Your House On The Lord Jesus Christ

So build your house on the Lord Jesus Christ. The last line of a children’s song but so true. It is about the wise man building his house on the rock and when the rains came it stood firm. And the foolish man built his house and the rains came tumbling down and the house on the sand went splat. What a comparative  and uncomplicated parable, from Matthew 7:26

And back in the Proverbs, we see the wise woman of Chapter 31, who plans and prepares. She cooks and cares for her family and  even has some business savvy, whether she runs a business or not, running a home takes management and budgeting. While this woman buys a field, we may invest in something else.

I hear so often that this woman is too perfect, that the Proverbs 31 would is unattainable. But Jesus is our perfection, that’s how we should manage. It is possible to raise children who will call you blessed, there are more Proverbs on that. And Proverbs 14:1, The wise woman builds her house, But the foolish tears it down with her own hands.

If you go back through Proverbs, which is a good read, ever so often, you will see it is a lot to do with what she is saying also, remember the brawling woman no one wants to live with. You can literally tear your family and your house down, to just by breaking dishes and slamming doors but in the way you treat them. Everyone needs boundaries, spaces and chores. Mother is not the chauffeur, gopher, chief cook and bottle washer, laundress, teacher and everything rolled into one, only to be the doormat as well. Proverbs makes for a good family Bible study.

Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. Psalm 127:1. So whatever house we build, whether it is a home, church or temple, even in reference to our own bodies with the Holy Spirit indwelling us as believers, it is in vain, our labor and work for nothing if He does not build it.

It is like the foolish man and the sand, if it is not on a strong foundation or rock, it will crumble. How many mudslides have I seen when those expensive beach houses slip into the sea. And as for the watchman, they were to stand on the wall awake at night, falling asleep was punishable by death, for it was important to know when enemies were attacking the city.

Jesus is our watchman, and He won’t be asleep, the Lord is not asleep and His watch is not in vain. That’s why our homes should be sanctuaries, and we should sleep the sleep of the beloved. Look who watches over us. His love and Spirit guard us from enemy attacks, and repel and dispel those forces that come against us or storm our castle walls, He is a strong tower, and He watches over us.

And also Proverbs 24:3-6 teaches us about envy, By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established;
by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches .A wise man is full of strength. It could just as well be a wise woman.

In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? The wonderful words of Jesus from John 14:2. God had made a place for everyone, but not everyone has made room for Him. Another song we sang, Come and go with me to my father’s house, where there is joy, joy, joy.

Jesus is the way to the Father’s house, He went o prepare or build us a dream home, so let’s dream and build on Him. Rebecca Jones / freeqration
