” You’re a precious soul to me. ” I remembered those words from a prayer I prayed for my mother, and then I remembered praying for her peace. The Holy Spirit is like that, He brings things to our remembrance.
Of course, my mother is a precious soul to Him and to me, and I want the best for her and so does God. Indeed, I would venture to say that all His saints are precious, the believers with pure hearts who find their faith in complete reliance on Him, those of us who He consoles and extends grace to, because He knows we are seeking Him.
Precious souls are those who are tempted to give up don’t, when it might just be easier to forget it, and then there is the possibility that the deception is there and the enemy is just waiting to devour your hopes and dreams and even perhaps your healing, marriage or family.
Precious souls read and write and study to be approved by God, they give themselves in sacrifice which is their reasonable service. And they grow weary in well doing because they are so precious and so giving. They give out so much love, it has to be refilled, most people can’t do it, it has to be Him. Precious love to His precious soul from the precious Lord, through His precious Spirit.
Is it any wonder, we sing ” Take My hand Precious Lord. “? And so it goes, I am tired, I am weak and I am worn. But then He carries us close to His heart and leads us on to the light, another line from the song. Because He is the light and there is no darkness in Him.
The Word says that our eyes are lamps, Matthew 6:22, 23, says that our eyes can cause us to be full of light and not darkness. And vice versa, Hebrews 12:2 reminds us to keep our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. One translation says perfector and I like to think protector as well.
Don’t we want Him to complete the work He began in us? Phillipians 1:6 The precious soul surely does for she knows she is complete in Him and His masterpiece. Colossians 2:10 and Ephesians 2:10.
Psalm 36:7, says His love is precious and unfailing. To hear the audible voice of the Lord was precious to Samuel, there were no open visions then, there are now. 2 Peter 1:4 is about Him giving us great and precious promises, and should you have read any of last months post, the Holy Spirit is a promise. And 1 Peter 1:7 says our faith is precious, even if it is tested by fire. God is not tempting us, the devil does. He does allow us to be tested and grow but always has a way of escape by His Spirit and His grace.
And the precious soul knows that Jesus, the precious one chose, her before the foundation of the world. Ephesians 2:15, and one day in heaven she can laugh with Him because she thought she chose Him. And He will be sitting there, perhaps by a river of peace or in a garden of roses, after He has said well done, the Spirit will move as a reminder or John 15:16, I chose you….. precious soul.
