A Blessed Soul

What is a blessed soul? The Bible has a lot to say about blessings. We are blessed if we walk in the right paths, the psalm says upright.  we are blessed as believers with grace upon grace and favor. We are blessed in the Beatitudes from the sermon on the Mount. If we are poor in spirit and know we have to depend on HIm. We will see God.

We are blessed when people are cruel or say mean things about us or our faith, or are persecuted because Jesus knows and our rewards are great in heaven, not just when we get there but what He favors us with now. You are even blessed if you read the Book of Revelation, understanding it all, is an even better one.

We are blessed coming and going, the prayer in Numbers 26, we are blessed with protection, He keeps us safe. His face will shine on you and give you peace. His peace is a great blessing, much different than anything you will experience. Your are blessed if you care for the poor and if you trust God. Psalm 41:1 and Jeremiah 17:7.

Luke 11:28 reminds us that we are blessed if we hear the Word and obey it.  Ephesians 1:3 says we are blessed, ( as believers ) with every spiritual blessing. Isn’t that interesting, I have long thought that our spirits know a whole lot more than our minds, so we should be relying on the Holy Spirit to teach us, so we will be blessed to walk in those spiritual blessings and wisdom.

Blessed are those who know the joyful sound, who walk, O LORD, in the light of Your presence. Psalm 89:15 We are blessed if we sing our shout His praise, I am more of a quite praiser but I singa lot so I am blessed. Oh, and to be blessed in the light of His holy presence, it is something you have to do on a regular basis, not at a once week service.

Psalm 21:6 turns that around, He gives us eternal blessings but he is blessed with our presence. Deuteronomy 28 explains blessings, but to be blessed and have them literally overtake us, we have to be obedient. We are blessed in the city and in the country, children are blessed, even what we own or put our hands to. Our work, and it will be more pleasant and not as laborious. I have an  idea of a bunch of blessings chasing me, I should slow down and let them catch me instead of running to try to get ahead.  It is like pursuing peace, and the Prince of Peace choosing you. We have had it backward.

And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:8. that is a lot better than paycheck to paycheck, and eating lunch some days with the spare change. Better than maxing out credit cards.

The word bless in Hebrew is barak is to kneel. We should kneel before the Lord our Maker, and know He bends to listen as we pray, rejoices over us with singing and quits us with His love, my peaceful and restful blessing from Zephaniah 3:17

And my mother loves trying to be the peacemaker and she is blessed but we have to live as peaceable as we can because not everyone understands than concept or will receive it. I remind her of that when people don’t reciprocate. Maybe, they would if they would behave and let God bless them. It is good to have a blessed soul. Rebecca Jones / pexels

  1. I don’t think I ever thought about all the ways the word blessed and blessing is used in the Bible let alone to reflect on the many different avenues the Lord uses to bless us. Some very different from others.

    Thanks for the encouragement!

  2. I was just meditating on Ps 116:7 Be at rest once more, O my soul, for the Lord has been good to you…. certainly rest is one of those overlooked blessings of God. free from anxiety. free from worry and concern. Knowing fully that God cares for me.
