Grace Abounds

And God is able to make all grace abound toward you. 2 Corinthians 9:8

But we are focusing here on Romans 5:20, because under the law sin abounds and people are offended but grace abounds much more. So should we sin more?  Of course not, even Pauls says so. God just wants us to know that under the law, there was a lot of sin, people took offense and that led to more sin, they had to make sacrifices. I’m sure many lived in fear of offending God and that was not His will because we are taught not to fear, that certainly leads to sin.

With the crucufixion of Jesus, and even before, He ushered in grace and truth. Let’s read about grace. ” God’s law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were. But as people sinned more and more, God’s wonderful grace became more abundant. ” Romans 5:20, the New Living translation is very clear.

When God gave the Ten Commandments, He would have rather been their God, they were arrogant and said to command them they could do anything. They could not. And of course sin abounded. The more they could see how sinful they were the more sins they committed, they were relying on their own efforts and not God. That’s is why Jesus came and brought grace. it’s why we rely on Him.

But there is a great difference between Adam’s sin and God’s gracious gift. For the sin of this one man, Adam, brought death to many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and His gift of forgiveness to many through this other man, Jesus Christ. Romans 5:15

Adam brought death to many, while Jesus, who was even called the second Adam, came to give life more abundantly. He not only raised the dead, He brought spirits to life with salvation. So if people are still living bound in legalistic views, not walking in the Spirit, experiencing joy and peace, they are not living under grace but the law when it isn’t necessary, or have not understood that Jesus fulled the law and prophets and gave love as a new commandment, and it covers all ten. We are not suppose to have a spirit of bondage, religion, it actually means to bind u. Knowing Jesus is a relationship, and He will tell some to depart, He never knew them.

Paul even calls the Old Covenant, the ministry of death, and many were saved. So how many more should be saved, healed and set free from whatever demonic oppression there is, all by the blood of Jesus? He said He gave us a better Covenant and promises and He is our High Priest.

The phrase, ” Haters gonna hate. ” is popular. But God is love. He hates sin. But He loves people. So if you think He hates you because something you do is a sin or even the worrying, He sent Jesus to help you give it up and walk in His love and peace. Jesus is worth it, though we weren’t. Let’s not sin, we know what it is. or let’s restudy it. But know too, that whether or not we receive it, where there is sin, a little or a lot, grace abounds. Rebecca Jones
