Be at rest once again my soul, for the Lord has been good to you. Psalm 118:7
Have you ever had a trying time or been seriously ill? I certainly have. And even if it’s not you but someone you love, it is trying. It causes trauma to your soul if you are injured or ill a long time. If you fight depression, oppression, have a child who is demanding, a marriage in trouble, you need to rest and let God take control.
If you’ve have ever experienced a victory in any area, remember how He brought you through that. It ‘s the same faithful God that will see this through. Don’t worry, rest. Don’t lose sleep, rest….recover, heal. He’s being good to you when you do.
Maybe, we’ve never fought off armies or lions or giants in person, but the spiritual battles are real in the heavenlies but God overshadows all darkness with the light of His Son. You do have to be alert, on guard, plead the blood and stand in faith, but don’t discount that we can’t do things on our own, it’s Him, it’s Jesus who makes us victorious. And though we have a part to play as believers, when we’ve done it, rest…let Him settle our minds and hearts and calm our spirits.
It’s the same Spirit in us that raised Jesus from the dead in, the greater one, greater than Solomon. So why shouldn’t we rest in the peace Jesus left for us? God is awake and never sleeps or slumbers, if He watches over Israel, He watches us.
Your soul is your mind, will, and emotions. It takes the words to Jesus to calm you, but you have to let Him, allow the Comforter in, He’s waiting, Rest, your soul needs nourishment, and while you rest , feast on His goodness, the Lord had been good to you, I know because He’s been good to me.
