But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. John 23, 24
Jesus told the disciples this very fact. He always warned them about the devil. If you don’t think so, go back and refresh your memory or take a fresh look at it like I did. He refers to him as the prince of this world and say that he has been judged. There is no option for him, he is defeated forever, Jesus took back power and He gave it to us.
Jesus will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. He told the disciples that the devil was coming and could not find anything in Him. That’s not true of us, however, and we must rely on the power of the Holy Spirit to help us through praying in tongues. He refreshes and restores us, warns us, helps us to pray when we don’t know what to say. He is the Comforter. Advocate, Teacher. I know some may not agree, I was not raised in that environment, it was frightening to me. There is no reason to be, because it is a lie to prevent you from walking in the Spirit. His power is one thing, His love is more than anything.
Jesus warned Peter, that the devil wanted to sift him as wheat. Jesus had breathed on them, so I was thinking they had power. But they could not cast out devils in some instances because of their unbelief. So was it just the fact that Peter was not speaking in tongues? We know he had a temper, was able to deny Jesus, that he was restored. You see, Jesus tried to warn him. He explains a lot in John 14 -17.
He helps us to discern spiritual warfare. He is the Spirit of the Living God. What He is not is an accuser or tormentor, He convicts of sin but does not remind us of it, continually, We know who that is. It is important and for us to cast down those mental arguments that disagree with God and bring our thoughts into obedience, the obedience of Christ, although God wants us to obey Him.
There are so many teachings and mixtures of religions, it takes praying in the spirit to discern, sometimes. There are good ideas in religions, but they really emanate back to God. Sometimes, though there are deeper rooted and deceptive doctrines, a lot of it has to do with rebellion and even witchcraft. Drug use falls into this category, remember the devil has a counterfeit for everything God does. Since he is not omnipotent nor omnipresent, he relies upon minions of deception and accusations. We are good at rehearsing these accusations, instead of focusing on Christ. Most people are only ” Oppressed of the devil. ” The Holy Spirit will help you discern if something else is present to cast out. It is important to have a good Bible based church or teaching, so be careful of who you let pray for you. Not all people who say they are spirit filled or even Christians are, even if they have some knowledge. Never let them tell you to take on spirits or other peoples demons or give you Communion to face one. That is for remembering His sacrifice. Though it is powerful and for discerning His body, and brings about a lot of healing in many instances, the purpose is to bring Him closer to you and He will help you against the enemy. It is Him who does the work anyway through us. I have stood in for someone’s healing taking Communion for them as an intercessor, but deliverance is another thing, the person has to repent. We can intercede for others, but they have to receive. You should see changes in people if they are being fed the Word.
I hope this blesses you today, trust Jesus, trust the Holy Spirit. Tongues is a spiritual gift not to be taken lightly, the is Spirit of power, love and a sound mind. And if your like me, you need Him. But honestly, His love will even supersede that because it is agape. That was another of Peter’s shortcomings, he was only at phileo / friend love. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth and will guide you into all things even what church to go to or who to listen to. Don’t lose sight of the grace message, it is not cheap or watered down as people say, it cost Jesus everything. Just don’t abuse His grace by willfully sinning and saying it’s covered. That is not true Christianity. And I hope to share His love as simply as possible, because it really is simple, people mess it up. Be blessed. Rebecca Jones
