The Son Has Made You Free

I watch it day after day, someone I love struggling. It seems a struggle to hang on.  It’s easier to stay in bed. She has a problem, she can’t solve.  It is just too big. Fear is palatable, depression, weighty.  The clock ticks by in hours that seem hopeless, endless and exhausting.  Looking back into the darkness that attacked a vibrant intelligent and loving woman, is not an option. Remember Lot’s wife.

It’s hard to look forward, to see the light that pierces the darkest memories, the deepest hurts, the loneliest longings. Yet, Jesus is shining His beautiful face upon her and God is within her so she will not fail.  That face that was marred is resurrected, alive forevermore  and through the mental anguish, His Spirit is alive in there.

He will speak firmly and yet, gently, above the cries of her heart, to just leave me alone and and let me sleep, it’s my only peace, because that is not true. Jesus is her peace. He is her only peace. His grace abounds and is sufficient. If she needs more, He supplies her needs. Pure peace, perfect peace, enduring peace and peace that lasts.

I prayed with her, I talked to her, I have cried my tears and problems to her. She has prayed for me. We make each other stronger. But we can make each other weaker as we draw strength from each other but that too is restored by Jesus. When we are weak, He is strong.

I have pushed her to be free of the strongholds of the enemies attack.  It does not matter if she let them in or it was merely a spiritual attack. I think it was a combination of things that only God can restore and He will, as she learns to rest in Him.  It is important to guard our hearts and thoughts and the words of our mouth, to respect others and not be dragged to lower levels by those we try to help, even if they disrespect or disparage us.

The enemy will defeat you if he can get you to agree with him. You may be weak, but your Lord is strong, you may be afraid, but He delivers you, by His perfect love which casts it out. You may be  feeling like your mind is in a blender. Sometimes, its on blend, or mix, but there are days you are sure it is on crush. You are bombarded with words, worries opinions, trends. You are overwhelmed with mental arguments. These are what we must cast down, everything that disagrees with God’s Word, His love and opinion of us.

Be still, let God calm your storm. Listen to the voice of the one who loves you, who stills the waves, and let the love of Jesus pass through your broken and bitter soul. His love can and will melt the hardest of hearts, those that have hurt you, stung you with words of cruel condemnation. You are not Fatherless, nor a widow, nor an orphan. And if you are a believer, you have the mind of Christ to renew you.

No matter how much you encourage, love, or even nag and yell at someone you want to see be delivered, they must choose for themselves to obey the tender voice of the Lord. I know fear, he is my enemy. And I know better still, Jesus, who loves me and keeps His promises, I pray she does, I know she does. I will see the light shine in her eyes again, eyes that once looked into the eyes of pure love Himself and taught me.

There is nothing wrong with her that He cannot mend. A broken body, a weary soul, and an exhausted mind. He will give her rest, He will give her sleep, He will take her hand and say Talitha Cumi, daughter arise, and resurrect that strong spirit, full of fire.

Maybe, this describes you or someone you love. There is no shame in seeking help for depression or other illness, but remember, Jesus bore it all by wearing a crown of thorns. Seek Him, seek wise and Godly counsel, let the Holy Spirit comfort you and be your constant companion. Never disqualify yourself by unbelief, it can lead you to the bitterness of an evil heart. Don’t dwell on the past or fear the future, He is already there. No, we don’t deserve His mercy or love, yet He paid the price.

I plead the blood of Jesus into our deepest wounds, our most lonely and desperate of souls, for if you have accepted Jesus as Lord, you were accepted by God, into the beloved Son Jesus. Your new life is hidden in Christ. You are an emerging butterfly, He will work you loosen from your cocoon.  Be free, free indeed.  That’s the hardest thing of all to believe, that He’s already freed us. Freed us by His amazing love. And who the Son sets free, is free indeed.

She wants to sleep, but sleep for many of is is not always rest. The Lord visits our sleep and makes it rest, His rest, His freedom, His peace. He will tuck you in and wake you with the sunlight fluttering your lashes awake like a butterfly kiss.  She is His beloved, He will give her sleep. And when she wakes, mountains will move. I pray that we all receive the gift of peace and freedom in Him, in Jesus name.

So this person I love so dearly is already taking flight. She’s free, because He made her free. For that. precious Lord, I am ever so grateful. Rebecca Jones

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. John 8:36
