I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world. John 16:33
Jesus wanted us to know we did not have to worry or fear or doubt, and yet we do. In fact, His words of comfort can easily elude us if we are not careful. And there are those who would make this an end times verse but it is not talking about the Great Tribulation of Revelation, but Jesus is talking about day to day life here. He went through the marketplaces, He understands going to the supermarket. He was in crowds, He understands traffic. He had people around Him arguing, complaining and doubting. They were called disciples, so He understands us. He’s been through it all. He exists outside time in a place called eternity. He understands past, present, and future. And He can cause you to forget the past like Joseph, He’s in the present and can change your future, so take heart, some versions, say take courage. He loves us so much, He never intended us to struggle so much with these things, that’s why we must learn about that enemy and know how defeated he really is.
All thanks to Jesus and His overcoming heart of love, that still beats and longs for us to know Him everyday. He died for us. He lives for us, so let’s love Him and live for Him. He is the reason our hearts beat, they pierced His on the cross, and we must continue to allow His love to pierce ours. We must never be complacent or take lightly such a sacrifice as His, an everlasting Covenant of Love is what He offers, still some would harden their hearts. I can’t even imagine that. Jesus longs for us to know His peace. We will never have that peace or it won’t remain in us until we can overcome worry and doubt and fear. He so wonderful, He helps us with that. Rebecca Jones
