Reflect – “I will meditate on your wonderful works.” Psalm 145:5
Reflections are funny things, look into a lake and see your face in the rippling water. Sometimes images are blurred, they are skewed, they don’t reflect the real you. Reading the love chapter, 1 Corinthians 13, we come across seeing into the glass darkly but then face to face. We only reflect a little of Christ, but sometime we will reflect His glory.
There is good news too that, with the help of the Holy Spirit, we can look into that glass and let the reflection be not so skewed, not so rippled and not so dark. He can peel back layers of our lives, and slowly or even hurriedly, like little onions and full of tears, the days or years , or hurts or heart brokenness, unravel.
However, you progress in undoing the layering of your spiritual life, lay aside the baggage, Jesus doesn’t want you to carry it. He will help you unpack, and fill a new you with a new life. But you have to let go, that’s why He says you can not put new wine , a type of the Holy Spirit, (and wine that’s not alcoholic ) into old wineskins. The wineskins would leak of burst. That’s why it’s important to renounce all sin, and humble yourself to Jesus asking the Holy Spirit to guide you.
Pray in the Spirit, it’s a freely given gift, just like salvation. I hope you sparkle and shine in 2016….Rebecca Jones
