When do they ever call Jesus the Prince of Peace? Usually, it’s at Christmas. That’s about the only time. And even in today’s tolerant society, the idea of Christmas has become one of the Winter Holidays. Jesus was likely conceived in December and born more toward the Day of Atonement. The Jewish calendar is different and on a lunar cycle, it also puts Him at Feasts and in ministry at thirty years of age. The days nights are in twelve hours each and divided into four watches of six hours.
But that is a different study. The Body of Christ, lacks His peace. Certainly, if we only refer to Him as the Prince of Peace once a year. Recently, I started listening closer to the words of songs. What a Friend We Have in Jesus, for instance….oh, what peace we often forfeit, oh, what needless pain we bear. I know there are more, I’ll be thumbing through the old hymnal I have, and I do like contemporary, but not the rock stuff, it’s not me, and in truth, there are some that may be just to bring in the younger generation and it must line with the Word. Grace is gift and not to be trifled with.
Perhaps, the best line is from The First Noel, the second verse….His law is love and His gospel is peace.Truly, truly, He deserves that title, in eternity, it will crown Him forever!
