Gospel of Peace

dove 4

You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, announcing the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all. You know what has happened throughout the province of Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached– -how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how He went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with Him. Acts 10:36-38 NIV

What a wonderful thing to have the Prince of Peace walking the earth, preaching the good news or gospel of peace, healing the sick, casting out devils and raising the dead. He taught us that the kingdom of God was within us, and the world would not receive it because they did not know Him. He also said they would hate Him. When we follow Him and become fishers of men, we run into the same old obstacles. But the prince of this world, the devil, came and found nothing in Jesus.  He totally trusted His Father.  And we can totally trust Him.  He knows the devil will look around to see if he can find anything in us, He knows we not as perfect as He was. He loves us anyway.

I chose the NIV verses because I like the announcement of good news. It started in a manger but continues throughout His ministry and is still ongoing.  He is still willing and well able to do good and heal or deliver those under the power of the devil.  I have heard so many say that healing is not for today, He uses circumstances to teach us a lesson.  They confuse the usual translation “oppressed” of the devil, with a misunderstanding of possession and don’t believe that Christians can be “affected” by him or worse believe God “puts” problems on them, but that is a deceptive lie of the enemy.  He uses it successfully.

God took a a lot of blame in the Old Testament  because people would worship idols and fall for anything. Jesus came to clarify that, and they thought He was the devil!  Let’s take Dorcas or Tabitha, she died.  She was a Christian, she was raised from the dead.  Death was the final enemy Jesus conquered. I went to church with people who had children with disabilities. They were older, and this was the late 70’s.  They were convinced that their drinking had caused this. I never saw anyone ask the Lord to heal them in a little Baptist church. Yet, Jesus plainly told the disciples when questioned about the blind man, that neither parent was responsible. Obviously, they had made the yearly sacrifice.

Now consider the precious blood of Jesus, how much more powerful than that of any sacrifice! He’s wanting and waiting to heal and deliver.  So you are a Christian, you can be affected by things like anybody else, fire, flood or car crash.  But you are different because you can claim angelic protection and divine intervention.  There are germs, flus, and outbreaks, but He will keep you from the noisome pestilences.  You are loved and taught by the Holy Spirit to avoid calamity.  Yet, Christians, are not fully submitted to God, loving Him wholeheartedly, when the open the doors to the enemy with vile entertainment and music, the everybody does it, little white lie mentality.

Sometimes people need medication but a lot of people suffer because of envy, unforgiveness, jealousy, and things they never consider a contributing factor, perhaps even over things they failed to do or even grieving lost love. Some people never rest, not just not sleeping, calm down, relax, rest in Jesus.  Don’t be so afraid of confusing doctrines, the Holy Spirit knows and sees all the spirit world, and we don’t.  Even if we have a glimpse, most people couldn’t deal with it continually. We are supposed to be like Jesus, but we’re not God. But He did love us enough to die and make us kings and priests.  He loves us so confess anything to Him that might hold back a healing, He loves you, He’ll never embarrass you, He’ll never hold it over your head. Don’t abuse His sacrifice and gift of grace by living like a Prodigal.  You can cut your life short. And don’t abuse His sacrifice and gift of grace by thinking He doesn’t want to heal you, He took you place.
